Innovation, Robots, and a Room Full of Curious Minds

Innovation Symposium | Hosted by Sapna Foundation | the link

Walk into the Innovation Symposium at The Link and you immediately get the feeling that something interesting is happening.

On February 26th, we joined the gathering, and it was one of those evenings that reminds you how much interesting work is quietly happening across Jacksonville. The focus of this month's symposium was robotics and automation, and the room brought together a mix of founders, technologists, educators, students, and curious community members who simply wanted to see what the future might look like.

And the future looked pretty exciting.

We heard from local innovators building autonomous security robots, companies working in automation and AV technologies, and leaders passionate about bringing robotics education to more students across our city. It was a great reminder that some of the technologies we often associate with larger tech hubs are already being built right here in Northeast Florida.

An eighth-grade student took the stage to show the robot he has been building and talk about his journey into robotics. Hearing that perspective in a room full of founders and engineers was inspiring — a reminder that the next generation of innovators is already getting started.

That mix of experience, curiosity, and learning is exactly what makes events like the Innovation Symposium so valuable.

The evening also sparked many great conversations across the room. Founders sharing ideas, technologists comparing notes, and people discovering new collaborations simply by introducing themselves. As one participant shared, sometimes the most valuable outcomes of events like these come from the people you meet unexpectedly along the way.

While we were there, we also had the chance to speak with Isaac Altman, CEO and co-founder of Panda Technology, about the growing importance of cybersecurity as technologies like robotics and AI continue to expand. Behind every innovative system is digital infrastructure that needs to be protected — something Isaac and his team work on every day. He also shared a perspective that resonated with many in the room: the importance of continuing to build strong technology companies here in Jacksonville, creating opportunities for talent, innovation, and future generations to grow right here in our city.

And that’s really what events like this are about. They bring together the people who are building, learning, experimenting, and imagining what’s next for Jacksonvillee.

In the Room

A few things that stayed with us from the evening:

Innovation is happening locally. Companies in Northeast Florida are already building robotics and automation technologies that many people assume only exist in larger tech hubs.

The next generation is already here. Seeing a young student confidently presenting his robotics project was a powerful reminder of how early curiosity can turn into future innovation.

The real value is the people in the room. Many of the most meaningful moments came not from the stage, but from the conversations happening between attendees.

This River Report was made possible with the support of Panda Technology, helping us continue to highlight the innovators and communities building the future of Jacksonville.

Sometimes the biggest ideas don't start on a stage — they start in a room full of curious people willing to share what they're building and what they're learning. Events like the Innovation Symposium are a reminder that Jacksonville's innovation ecosystem is alive and evolving — one conversation, one collaboration, and one room at a time.
