Data Science for Social Good – Florida is an educational meetup exploring how data science is used to support nonprofits and address community challenges. Dr. Karthik Umapathy and Dr. Dan Richard will provide an overview of the DSSG-FL program, including project selection, intern training, nonprofit collaboration, and community impact. Attendees will also hear from Summer 2026 interns about projects completed in partnership with Cathedral Arts Project, Community Foundation, LISC, and Center of Hope. Topics include arts participation among children of military families, philanthropy data, property tax exemption access for Jacksonville homeowners, and child well-being. The event is open to students, nonprofit professionals, data scientists, community leaders, and anyone interested in how data can contribute to local social impact.
