VELO for Vets is a 35-mile charity bike ride bringing together cyclists, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, attorneys, and community supporters to help elderly veterans remain safely housed. The ride begins at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Augustine and travels north under police escort before finishing near the USS Orleck Naval Museum in Downtown Jacksonville as part of the K9s for Warriors Armed Forces Tri-Bridge Challenge celebration. Proceeds support Jacksonville Area Legal Aid’s Shelter for Elders Endowment – Veterans Initiative, which provides housing-related civil legal assistance to older veterans facing issues such as eviction, foreclosure, unsafe living conditions, fraud, and landlord disputes. Riders receive on-route support including a rest stop, water, and refreshments.
